Dr. Oduro Osae, Director-General of IAA, inaugurated the Audit Committee of the Tema West Municipal Assembly on 2nd March, 2023. The Municipal Coordinating Director of the Assembly, Mr. Mohammed Ali Amadu presided over the meeting on behalf of the Municipal Chief Executive. In his opening remarks, he emphasized the need for Audit Committees and commended the outgoing Committee for its immense contribution to the operations of the Assembly. He assured the incoming Committee of Management’s support.
Addressing the meeting, the Director- General explained the three statutory functions of the Audit Committee as provided in the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921).
He mentioned that the Assembly is required to submit reports and work plans and admonished the Audit Committee to assist Management fulfill its mandate. He tasked the Audit Committee to also quality assure work done by the Internal Audit Unit of the Assembly. He expressed his gratitude to the Committee and entreated members to develop working relationships with the Regional Coordinating Council and the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development. He pledged the assistance of the Agency to the work of the Committee.
Members of the Committee are Ms. Harriet Akua Karikari (ICAG Rep and Chairperson of the Committee), Mr. Senanu K. Mensah (IAA Rep), Mr. Samuel Ayitey Aryee (ICAG Rep) Mr. Osanyoromor Aziziazi and Mr. Joseph Buabeng Twumasi are representatives of the Assembly and Mr. Emmanuel Debrah is Secretary to the Committee.
