Mr. Fuseini in his address, said the Audit Committee is a strategic one provided under the PFM Act. He mentioned that the three statutory roles of the Audit Committee are mandatory, advisory and supporting. On the mandatory role, Mr. Alhassan informed members that they should ensure the implementation of recommendations raised in Internal and External Audit Reports, monitoring reports of the Authority and recommendations from the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament if any. The Committee is to also submit an annual report on its activities on or before 30th June, 2023. This, he said should reflect the status of implementation of all findings that have been considered by the Committee.

The advisory role of the Committee according to Mr. Fuseini, is the provision of advice to Management on risk management processes and effective internal controls. He tasked members to put their expertise at the disposal of the NLA. On the supporting role, the Committee is required to support the Internal Audit Unit to deliver on its mandate and ensure reports are submitted timely and in compliance with laws and regulations. He advised them against defaulting in report submission as it has attendant consequences. Mr. Alhassan concluded by tasking Management to support the Committee in the achievement of its mandate.
