Dr. Eric Oduro Osae, Director-General of the Internal Audit Agency 0nTuesday, 3rd May inaugurated the Audit Committee of the School of Anaesthesia and Critical Care at the Ridge Hospital.
Dr. Evans Atito-Narh, the Director of the School of Anaesthesia, welcomed all to the meeting and thanked the exiting Audit Committee for the support and good job. He noted that modern auditing is not to find faults but to direct. Dr. Atito-Narh commended all the Auditors who have been with the school for their guidance and support. He gave a brief on the school and what they do.
 Dr. Osae in his address said he was happy to be swearing-in the Audit Committee of the school as it was a great institution. He welcomed the new members and noted his passion for issues pertaining to health issues. He enumerated the three roles of the Committee as Mandatory, Advisory and Supporting.
On the Mandatory role, he entreated members to ensure the Committee’s Annual report is submitted timely. He tasked them to work with Management to implement recommendations in Internal Audit reports, External Audit reports, Monitoring reports of the school and any other report that bothers on financials. The Committee as part of its advisory role, is to focus on Financial Management, Risk Management Practices, Internal Control and Governance processes and ensure compliance to laws and regulations. He encouraged them to bring their expertise to bear in their delivery.
Speaking on the supporting role, Dr. Osae tasked members to ensure timeliness in the submission of Quarterly reports, Annual reports and work plans from the Internal Audit Unit. He concluded noting the importance of the Audit Committee in the governance of the school and requested Management’s support for the execution of their mandate. The Director-General encouraged members to work with Management as partners in development towards accomplishing efficient management of public funds.
Dr. Osae informed them of the issuance of the new 2023 Audit Committee Guidelines and sensitization programme of all Audit Committee members. He tasked Management of the school to organize an orientation for the members of the Committee to help them understand their work and pledged the support of the Agency at all times.
Dr. Atito-Narh in his closing remarks promised same cordial relationship as they had with the previous Committee and thanked the Director-General for helping them fulfil the requirements of the PFM Act.
Members of the Committee are Dr. Frank Gamadey Chairman and IAA Rep.), Mr. Jimmy Boachie-Ansah (IAA Rep), Mr. Samuel Kwasi Etsey (ICA Rep). Dr. Jerry Agudogo and Mrs. Bertha Enyonam Esi Dogbegah are members of the SACC Board. Mr. Ibrahim Addai is the secretary to the Audit Committee.
