Dr. E. O. Osae, Director-General of the Internal Audit Agency on Tuesday 4th July, 2023 inaugurated the Audit Committee of the Cardiothoracic Centre at Centre’s conference room at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.
The Director of the Centre welcomed all to the Centre and shared a brief on the activities of the Centre.
The Director-General urged the Audit Committee to help the Centre on how to save life and still remain compliant with the laws, particularly with the procurement issues of the Centre. He said the preoccupation of the Centre is to save life and urged the Committee to support them in delivering their mandate.
Dr. Osae advised that they balance their energies by adopting the 80-20 Rule. 80% of their activities on Performance related issues and 20% on supporting them financial issues.
On the advisory role the Director-General tasked the Committee to advise them on good steps to take so they do not violate the PFM Act. He encouraged Management of the Centre to invite the Committee to be part of the Entrance and Exit Conference of External Auditors to give the assurance of good control systems and know firsthand issues raised to resolve them before it shows up in their final report.
 Dr. Osae, on the supporting role encouraged support and close working relations with the Internal Auditors to help management deliver on its Mandate. He assured the support of the Agency and thanked members for accepting to serve on the Committee.
Members of the Committee the Committee are Mr. Thomas Ashaley Thompson-Aryee (Chairman and Rep. of IAA), Mr. Kena Ofori Atta (ICAG Rep), Madam Martha Kasei Fasoranti (ICAG Rep.). Kenneth Lamptey is the Secretary to the Committee.
