SENIOR MANAGERS OF THE GHANA COMMODITY EXCHANGE TRAINED ON IAA REPORTING REQUIREMENTS AND FIELD WORK PROCEDURES

The Internal Audit Agency, as part of its mandate, is dedicated to enhancing the capacities of Internal Audit Units (IAUs) in Covered Entities. In line with this commitment, the Agency responded to a request from the Ghana Commodity Exchange (GCX) to educate Senior Managers on IAA Reporting requirements and fieldwork procedures. This training will enable them to assess the work of the Internal Auditor more effectively in accordance with IAA Standards. The two-day training program took place from October 16th to 17th, 2023, in the conference room of the Ghana Commodity Exchange.

Mr. Nathan Yankey and Mr. Hayford Dowuona-Hammond facilitated the training. The program aimed to empower Senior Managers within the GCX by providing them with a comprehensive understanding of the Internal Audit Agency’s reporting requirements and fieldwork procedures.  Participants were exposed to Internal Auditing in the Public Sector, the legal framework and the provisions under the PFM Act, 2023 (Act 921), the IPPF, Planning, Field work process, working paper management and the IAA’s standards.

This enhanced knowledge and awareness will enable these Senior Managers to engage more effectively with the internal audit process, allowing them to actively contribute valuable insights and make well-informed decisions based on the audit findings and recommendations, ultimately leading to the achievement of organizational objectives.

The facilitators conducted pre-training evaluations on topics to assess participants’ knowledge levels at the outset, serving as a baseline for effectively adding value to their understanding. Additionally, after the training, the facilitators conducted a post-training evaluation session to determine the knowledge participants had acquired in the covered areas. These assessments were designed to gauge the appropriateness of the instructional materials and facilitation methods used during the training. Overall, participants expressed satisfaction with the entire program.
