2-DAY TRAINING FOR PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS IN THE GREATER ACCRA REGION

On the 25th and 26th of March, 2024, the Internal Audit Agency organized a comprehensive 2-day training session for Internal Auditors, Finance Officers and members of Audit Committees within Public Sector institutions in the Greater Accra Region.

The training was held concurrently at two (2) venues, the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) Conference Room for Metropolitan, Municipals and District Assemblies (MMDAs), Colleges of Health and Colleges of Education and the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council Conference Room for Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDAs), State Owned Enterprises (SOEs) and GTEC institutions.

The training was aimed at exposing participants to the requirements of the Global Internal Audit Standards (GIAS), reviewing the International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) Based Financial Statements and the implementation of the new PFM Commitment Control Compliance Checklist (CCCC) system indicated in the 2024 budget.

Dr. E. O. Osae in his opening address commended the dedication and professionalism demonstrated by Internal Auditors across the Public Sector. He noted the adoption of the GIAS by the Institute of Internal Auditors Global and the need to position Public Sector Internal Audit in Ghana to benchmark global standards.

Dr. Osae enumerated the benefits of the training on the adoption of the IPSAS-Based Financial Statements and the PFM Commitment Control Compliance Checklist and urged participants to ensure compliance. He shared on reforms made in the practice of Public Sector Internal Audit in the country and encouraged Institutions to participate in training programmes slated by the Agency to be abreast with ongoing reforms.

The training is targeted at reaching an average of two thousand (2000) participants across sixteen (16) regions of the country.

Mr. Benjamin Adjetey and Mr. Nathan Yankey alongside a dedicated support team facilitated the training in the Greater Accra Region.
