A team from the GIZ led by Kwaku Obeng, Component Manager visited the Agency to discuss the support they intend to provide, which stems from their recent project, “Participation, Accountability, and Integrity for a Resilient Democracy,” in partnership with the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO). The team explained that the purpose of the meeting was to inform the Director-General and discuss 3 key points:
- Developing a joint indicator to be worked on with KFW, in collaboration with IAA.
- Conducting a Capacity Building Needs Assessment for Internal Auditors across MMDAs.
- Establishing a Grant Agreement.
The discussion focused on implementing a baseline for the number of audit recommendations implemented by MMDAs. They mentioned that last year they had a baseline of 58%, based on data from about 100 MMDAs. They aim to achieve a baseline of at least 70%, using data from 261 MMDAs. The team seek to partner with IAA to obtain this information and to determine how the project can be effectively monitored. Additionally, the project aims to assess the training needs of Internal Auditors within the various MMDAs and finalize a grant agreement.
Mr. Obeng noted the corporation between the GIZ and the IAA and recalled the activities worked on in the just ended intervention.
