Mr. Alhassan Fuseini, Deputy Director, Projects Coordinating and Monitoring Unit (PCMU) on 1st December, 2022, inaugurated the Audit Committee of the Enchi College of Education on behalf of the Director-General, Dr. E.O. Osae. The event was chaired by the Principal of the College, Mr. Philip Ntaah.
Members of the Committee are Mr. Suleman Ali (IAA Rep and Chairman of the Committee), Mr. Richard Kwame Adjei (IAA Rep), Mr. John Adu (ICAG Rep), Madam Cynthia Mary Buabin and Mr Paul Y.A. Yeboah are representatives of the College Board.
In a speech delivered on behalf of the Director-General, Mr. Fuseini said the Audit Committee is a High-Level Corporate Governance Committee which adds to the effectiveness of public accountability and efficient use of state resources. He enumerated the Statutory functions of the Committee as mandatory, advisory and supporting. He mentioned that the mandatory roles include pursuing Management to implement recommendations contained in Internal Audit Reports, Parliament’s decision on the Auditor-General’s Report and Auditor-General’s Management Letter. The Committee is also required to submit an annual report on its activities.
The advisory roles of the Committee according to Mr. Fuseini include the provision of advisory and assurance services on financial and risk management practices, internal control and governance processes and compliance with Laws, Regulations and Policies.
On the supporting roles, Mr. Fuseini stated that the Committee is required to help the Internal Audit Unit in the preparation and submission of quarterly internal audit reports. He mentioned that the 4th Quarter Internal Audit Report and the Annual Performance Report are due on 31st December, 2022.
