On Wednesday, 25th March 2026, the Internal Audit Agency (IAA) inaugurated the Audit Committee of the Nursing and Midwifery Training College (NTC), Ho, marking a significant step in strengthening governance, transparency, and accountability within the institution. This inauguration marks the first-ever constitution of an Audit Committee since the College’s establishment, a major milestone in its efforts to enhance internal controls and institutional oversight.
Mr. Hayford Dowuona-Hammond, representing the Ag. Director-General of the IAA presided over the swearing-in of the committee members, who will provide oversight to ensure effective internal controls and fiscal responsibility. Following the inauguration, Mr. George Kofi Ayirah was elected Chairman of the Audit Committee. In his maiden address, he expressed appreciation to the members for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to lead the Committee in a spirit of collaboration to uphold high standards of accountability and good governance.
The event also featured an interactive forum, during which stakeholders discussed internal audit practices and the role of the Committee in strengthening institutional performance. In his remarks, Mr. Dowuona-Hammond emphasized the IAA’s commitment to conducting periodic evaluations of the committee’s work and expressed confidence that the newly inaugurated committee would uphold professionalism, transparency, and integrity in the discharge of its mandate.
The ceremony, held at the College’s Conference Room, was attended by management of the College, members of the Board, and representatives from the Internal Audit Agency (IAA) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICAG). The successful inauguration formally establishes a key oversight body to support sound financial management and good governance at NTC, Ho.
