IAA Inaugurates CTVET Audit Committee to Strengthen Oversight

On 1st April 2026, the Ag. Director-General of the Internal Audit Agency (IAA), Mr. Thomas A. Thompson-Aryee, inaugurated the Audit Committee of the Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET) to strengthen governance, internal controls, and financial management within the institution.

In his remarks, the Director-General of CTVET, Mr. Zakaria Sulemana, described the inauguration as a significant milestone in reinforcing accountability and risk management practices. He noted that the Audit Committee will play both advisory and oversight roles to ensure the Commission effectively delivers on its mandate.

Mr. Thompson-Aryee, in his address, commended the Management and staff of CTVET for facilitating the inauguration. He emphasized that the establishment of Audit Committees is in line with the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921), and Ministry of Finance Guidelines for the effective functioning of Audit Committees.

He further urged the Committee to focus on key public financial management reforms, including the CCC Checklist and Commitment Authorization. He also reminded members that government commitments must be supported by approved cash ceilings and that Institutional budgets should be aligned with approved work plans to ensure financial discipline and effective implementation.
