The Internal Audit Agency (IAA) has commenced a regional monitoring exercise in the Greater Accra Region to assess the status of implementation of recommendations contained in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Quarter 2025 Internal Audit Reports of public sector institutions.
The exercise, being undertaken by various monitoring teams of the Agency, is also aimed at evaluating the activities and effectiveness of Audit Committees within the covered institutions for the 2025 financial year.
The monitoring teams are verifying the extent to which Management of the institutions have implemented recommendations made in the Internal Audit Reports to address identified control weaknesses, improve operational efficiency, strengthen financial management practices, and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies.
Additionally, the exercise seeks to assess the performance of Audit Committees in the discharge of their statutory responsibilities, particularly in relation to the implementation of audit recommendations, risk management, and compliance with the provisions of the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921).
The exercise forms part of the Internal Audit Agency’s mandate to promote effective internal control systems, good governance, accountability, and transparency within public sector institutions.
