Strengthening Governance–IAA Inaugurates MoFA Audit Committee

The Deputy Director-General (FASS) of the Internal Audit Agency (IAA), Mr. Bismark Aborbi-Ayitey, inaugurated the Audit Committee of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) on 15th July 2026, at the Ministry’s Conference Room.

In an address on behalf of the Minister for Food and Agriculture, the Chief Director, Mr. Paul Siameh, reinforced the Ministry’s commitment to sound financial management, transparency and good public governance. He noted that the establishment of the Committee was in line with the provisions of the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921), which mandates public institutions to establish Audit Committees to support accountability and effective financial oversight.

Delivering his address, Mr. Aborbi-Ayitey urged the Committee to ensure that audit recommendations from Internal Audit Reports, Auditor-General’s Reports and Public Accounts Committee recommendations are resolved promptly. He emphasised that the Committee must help safeguard assets entrusted to the Ministry by ensuring effective follow-up and implementation of audit recommendations. He further called on Management to provide the necessary support and information to enable the Committee to effectively execute its mandate.

Madam Christiana Appiah, the newly elected Chairperson of the Committee, expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed to in her and pledged the Committee’s commitment to working together to achieve its mandate.

In his closing remarks, Mr. Siameh reiterated his gratitude to the Committee members and urged them to ensure that audit observations are made available to Management to promote transparency and support the Ministry in achieving its mandate. He assured the Committee of Management’s full cooperation throughout their tenure.
