IAA Swears In GEXIM Bank Audit Committee

On 17th August 2026, the Acting Deputy Director-General (FASS), Mr. Bismark Aborbi-Ayitey, on behalf of the Acting Director-General of the Internal Audit Agency, Mr. Conrad Z. Dumbah, administered the swearing-in ceremony for the newly constituted Audit Committee of the Ghana EXIM Bank. The ceremony was graced by the Board Chairman of the Bank, Dr. Joseph Nyarkotei Dorh; the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Hon. Sylvester Adinam Mensah; and the Deputy CEO, Mr. Victor Easmon.

Hon. Adinam Mensah, in his opening remarks, stated that the Bank operates within the framework of the Public Financial Management Act 2016 (Act 921), which necessitates the establishment and inauguration of the Audit Committee. He noted that the ceremony reaffirmed GEXIM Bank’s commitment to the principles of good governance, accountability, transparency, and responsible stewardship.

He further acknowledged the invaluable contributions of the previous Audit Committee, noting that its members had gone beyond the call of duty in supporting the effective execution of the Bank’s mandate. The CEO mentioned he looked forward to the incoming Committee’s support and guidance in strengthening and advancing effective audit systems and practices within the institution.

On his part, Dr. Nyarkotei Dorh expressed optimism that the incoming Committee would build on the credibility and standards demonstrated by the previous Committee. He urged the Committee to promptly identify and communicate weaknesses in the Bank’s systems and controls, rather than allowing such deficiencies to persist or be concealed through measures that merely create an appearance of compliance.

Mr. Thomas A. Thompson-Aryee, former Director-General and representative of the Internal Audit Agency, was elected Chairman of the Committee. In his acceptance remarks, he pledged the Committee’s commitment to adding value to the Bank’s operations and supporting the achievement of its mandate.

Delivering his remarks, Mr. Aborbi-Ayitey commended Management of the Bank for achieving an impressive 98% implementation rate of audit recommendations. He also highlighted the Commitment Authorisation introduced by the Minister for Finance, together with the associated requirement for the quarterly submission of the Commitment Control Compliance Review Report (CCCRR).
