IAA GIVES AWARDS

Hon. John Kumah, Deputy Minister for Finance closed the just ended Internal Audit Conference organized by the Internal Audit Agency Conference on 18th August, 2022. In his speech, he said the government has taken steps to restructure the Internal Audit Agency into an Internal Audit Service to strengthen its function across public institutions. The aim, according to Hon Kumah is to provide the needed independence, adequate resources and technical capacity for the internal audit function. He mentioned the” name and shame”, a collaborative effort of the IAA and Ministry of Finance to enforce compliance with the law and ensure effective accountability by public institutions. He pledged the government’s support to the assurance services provided by Internal Auditors.

The event was climaxed with an awards ceremony. There were seven (7) categories of awards which had recipients from Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs), Regional Coordinating Councils (RCCs) and State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs). The categories were: Best Head of Covered Entity that supports IAU, Best ERM Compliant Institution, Best Internal Audit Unit, DG’s Special Award to Best Female Internal Auditor, Best Audit Committee, Best Internal Auditor and Integrity Personality in Internal Auditing. Awards were also given to institutions which sponsored the Conference.
