Mr. Alhassan Fuseini on behalf of Dr. E.O. Osae, Director-General of the Agency inauguration of the Audit Committee for the College of Community Health Nursing in Winneba on the 5th July 2023 at the school’s IT Laboratory.
The Principal of the College, Alhaji Rafui A. Agbolah gave the welcome address. He welcomed all participants to the inauguration and thanked the Internal Audit Agency and the organizers for their effort to inaugurate the Audit Committee in their College.
The Principal also indicated that the establishment of the Audit Committee is to promote good corporate governance and effective functioning of the Internal Audit unit of the College and believes the Audit Committee will strengthen the existing mechanisms for the pursuance and implementation of audit recommendations to improve financial reporting, Internal controls compliance with laws and regulations and safeguards the assets of the college.
He extended his special appreciation to the Director-General of the IAA and his team for this befitting honor.
In his address, Mr. Alhassan outlined the composition and the functions of the Audit Committee as stated under section 86 – 88 of the PFM Act and explained the functions of the Audit Committee as their Mandatory, Advisory and Supporting roles. He stated that the Audit Committee is a high-level corporate governance committee that contributes to the effectiveness of public accountability and the appropriate use of public resources. He said the formation, membership, roles, reporting, and responsibilities of the Audit Committee are provided for under section 86-88 of the PFM Act, Regulations 220 and 223-229 of L.I 2378, and part 8 of the Guidelines.
Mr. Alhassan Fuseini also gave an orientation to the newly sworn-in Audit Committee members. The Presentation was on the Audit Committee System Under the PFM Act and Strengthening Internal Controls at Covered Entities
The members appreciated the powers, authority, and responsibilities of the Audit Committee as presented. Members as part of the presentation were introduced to how to conduct an effective audit committee meeting.
Members of the Audit Committee are Mr. Bismark Showcross Hedagbui(Chairman and ICAG Rep), Mohammed Hardi Inusah (IAA Rep), Mr. CharlesAttah (IAA Rep). Madam Comfort Madah Kutum and Mr. Nenyi Mensa Koomson are representative of the College and Ms. Keren Bakpei Konam is the secretary to the Committee.
