INAUGURATION OF AUDIT COMMITTEES

The Director-General of the Internal Audit Agency, Dr. E. O. Osae, inaugurated the Audit Committees of the Community Water and Sanitation Agency (CWSA) and the Copyright Office on the 17th and the 18th of January, 2024 respectively.

Dr. Osae in addressing the gathering at the various Audit Committees, highlighted the three key functions of the Audit Committee as provided in the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921). That is mandatory, advisory, and supporting roles.

He detailed the Committees’ responsibilities to include setting up internal controls, reviewing parliamentary reports, and submitting necessary reports promptly.

Regarding the advisory role, he stressed the preventive aspect of Internal Auditing, urging the Audit Committees to assist in implementing Enterprise Risk Management for risk mitigation.In terms of the supporting role, he appealed for the committees to aid in fulfilling the institution’s mandate.

In conclusion, Dr. Osae expressed immense gratitude to the Committee for accepting to serve on the Committee. He also urged the management of the CWSA and the Copyright Office to organize an orientation session for committee members.

The members of the Audit Committee of the Community and Water Sanitation Community Agency are Mr. Adu Anane Antwi (IAA Rep and Chairman), Patience A. Austin (IAA Rep), Mr. Obeng Ampah (ICAG Rep), Mr. James A. Abbey and Mr. Kwabena Asare Gyasi-Duku are representatives of the Community Water and Sanitation Agency and Ms. Acheampomaa Duah is the secretary to the Committee.
