THE AGENCY CONDUCTS INFORMATION SYSTEMS AUDIT AT THE UNIVERSITY OF DEVELOPMENT STUDIES (UDS)

The Information Systems (IS) Unit of the Agency conducted an Audit for the University for Development Studies (UDS) from the 28th of May to the 13th of June 2024. This audit was undertaken to evaluate the effectiveness and security of the University’s information systems, ensuring they are robust, secure, and compliant with relevant regulations and best practices. The team was led by Ms. Sedina Klutse with Mr. Osei Tutu Agyeman and Mr. Christian Barimah Adinkrah.

The primary objectives of the audit were:

  • To assess the adequacy and effectiveness of the university’s information system controls.
  • To identify potential risks and vulnerabilities in the existing systems.
  • To ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.

As part of the audit engagement, the team conducted a comprehensive training session for the university’s internal audit unit on Information Systems Auditing. This training covered:

  • Fundamental concepts and importance of IS Audit.
  • Steps for planning and conducting an IS audit.
  • Risk Assessment: Identifying and evaluating risks in information systems.
  • Audit Tools and Techniques: Overview of tools and techniques used in IS auditing.
  • Reporting and Follow-up: Effective reporting and follow-up procedures.  
  • The training was well-received, with participants gaining valuable insights and practical knowledge to enhance their auditing capabilities.
