As part of efforts to enhance transparency and strengthen the role of Audit Committees in public institutions, on 22nd May, 2025, the Agency facilitated a virtual sensitisation workshop on the Revised Audit Committee Template to orient Audit Committee members and Internal Auditors on modifications to the old template. Five hundred and twenty-five (525) participants took part in the workshop.
Mr. T.A. Thompson-Aryee, Ag. Director-General of the Agency in his opening remarks said the sensitisation workshop was occasioned by the revision of audit committee reporting template which was necessitated by the issuance of two key policy documents, “The Revised Guidelines for the Effective Functioning of Audit Committees (GEFAC 2023) and Audit Recommendations Implementation and Follow-up Instructions for Public Institutions (2023)” by the Minister for Finance.
He explained that the documents were introduced to improve governance, enhance compliance with audit recommendations, and promote accountability in public institutions. He continued that to ensure conformity, the original template based on the 2017 Guidelines has undergone comprehensive update to be in line with the 2023 Guidelines.
He concluded that the new 2025 Audit Committee reporting template goes beyond a format change to reflect a strategic shift toward clarity, completeness, and performance tracking.
The workshop was facilitated by Mr. Senanu K. Mensah, Acting Director of Technical, Research, Monitoring, and Evaluation (TRME) at the Internal Audit Agency. In his detailed presentation, Mr. Mensah walked participants through the key changes in the template, providing practical guidance on how to effectively apply the new structure in their reporting.
Mr. Seth Kwame Anaglate, Director of Operations, moderated the session. Mr. Bismark Aborbi-Ayitey, Deputy Director-General in charge of Finance, Administration and Support Services and Dr. Cynthia Ayorkor Sallah, Deputy Director-General, Technical and Field Operations were present at the workshop.
