The African Union Advisory Board Against Corruption (AUABC) undertook a review/evaluation mission to Ghana from 2nd – 6th June, 2025. The Review Mission was meant to assess the implementation of the African Union Convention on Preventing and Combatting Corruption (AUCPCC) by Ghana as a State Party to the Convention.
The objectives of the evaluation are to:
- Engage the political leadership on the anticorruption efforts in Ghana.
- Engage with various stakeholders in order to gauge the level of implementation and compliance of the provisions of the Convention.
- Encourage the sharing of good practices in corruption prevention.
- Solicit for broader support of the work of the Board and forge closer collaboration with stakeholders.
- Increase the visibility of the Board.
The Internal Audit Agency was among twenty-four (24) institutions that were invited to the engagement. The Acting Director-General, Mr. T.A. Thompson-Aryee on 4th June, 2025 made a presentation on the Agency efforts at combatting corruption and measures instituted for anticorruption practices at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC). He was supported by the Acting Deputy Director-General in charge of Finance, Administration and Support Services (FASS), Mr. Bismark Aborbi-Ayitey.
The Mission was crowned by a one-day high-level conference on Ghana’s Anti-Corruption Architecture on 6th June, 2025 at the AICC on the theme, “Revitalizing the Anti-Corruption Architecture in Africa: Ghana’s Accountability Journey”. The Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E Prof. Naana Jane Opoku- Agyemang was the Special Guest of Honor. In attendance were other Dignitaries and Ministers of State. Notable among them were the Deputy Attorney General & Minister for Justice, Hon. Dr. Justice Srem-Sai, Special Prosecutor, Mr. Kissi Agyebeng and the Commissioner, Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), Dr. Joseph Whittal.
