Mr. Thomas Ashaley Thompson-Aryee, Ag. Director-General of the Internal Audit Agency (IAA), inaugurated an Audit Committee for the Ghana Police Service (GPS) on 9th December, 2025. The Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno attended the meeting.
In his address, the Ag. Director-General highlighted the Committee’s statutory meeting schedule along with its mandatory and advisory roles. He emphasized that the Audit Committee is not a tool for witch-hunting but rather a mechanism designed to add value to the Service’s operations.
Mr. Thompson-Aryee noted upcoming amendments to the PPA Act that will require Commitment Authorization from the Ministry of Finance. He explained that this measure ensures institutions make commitments based not on budget allocations but on actual cash ceilings. He added that the Ministry of Finance has introduced a PFM Compliance League Table, and as a result, Internal Auditors of public institutions are required to submit their Commitment Control Compliance Review Reports (CCCRR) on a quarterly basis.
