IAA Inaugurates Audit Committee of Nurses’ Training College, Pantang

On 4th March 2026, the Internal Audit Agency (IAA) inaugurated the Audit Committee of the Nurses’ Training College, Pantang, in a ceremony aimed at strengthening financial oversight, accountability, and compliance within the institution. The ceremony was conducted by Mr. Samuel Gyekye-Mensah on behalf of the Acting Director-General of the IAA, Mr. Thomas Thompson-Aryee.

In his remarks, Mr. Gyekye-Mensah highlighted key provisions of the amended Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921), particularly the incorporation of the Oath of Secrecy and the Oath of Office for members of Audit Committees. He cautioned that breaches of these oaths attract sanctions under Section 98 of the Act. He further noted the persistent audit infractions recorded in many public institutions and stressed the crucial role of Audit Committees in ensuring that recommendations from both internal and external audit reports are effectively implemented.

The newly inaugurated Audit Committee is mandated to pursue the Principal Spending Officer to ensure the implementation of recommendations contained in internal and external audit reports, as well as other financial monitoring reports. The Committee is also expected to strengthen internal control systems and promote financial discipline and compliance within the College.

The inauguration forms part of the Agency’s ongoing efforts to strengthen public financial management and enhance accountability across public sector institutions.
