Mr. Thomas A. Thompson-Aryee, Acting Director-General of the Internal Audit Agency (IAA), inaugurated the Audit Committee of the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources (MLNR) on 15th April, 2026. The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Minister for MLNR, Hon. Alhaji Yusif Sulemana, as well as the Chief Director, Mr. Innocent Haligah.
The Chief Director highlighted the Committee’s responsibilities as outlined in the PFM Act, 2016. He assured members of a strong and collaborative working relationship with the Ministry’s Management, adding that Management would, as much as possible, make itself available for the Committee’s meetings.
In his address, Mr. Thompson-Aryee urged Management to ensure that the Committee holds regular quarterly meetings in line with the requirements of the PFM Act. He also noted the Ministry’s absence from the PFM Compliance League Table and encouraged the Committee to support the institution in improving its performance in future publications.
He referenced the Chief of Staff’s directive on the submission of annual statements by Audit Committees and urged the Committee to ensure that the MLNR’s report is duly submitted. The Acting Director-General also noted that the Commitment Control Compliance Checklist has come to stay and advised Management to strictly adhere to budget implementation guidelines.
In his closing remarks, Hon. Alhaji Sulemana expressed appreciation to the Acting Director-General for his support in facilitating the swearing-in ceremony. He also thanked the outgoing Committee for its invaluable contributions. He urged the newly constituted Committee to work diligently to address the persistent challenges facing the Ministry and expressed confidence in their expertise and qualifications to advance the Ministry’s progress.
