On behalf of the Acting Director-General of the Internal Audit Agency (IAA), Mr. Conrad Z. Dumbah, the Deputy Director-General (FASS), Mr. Bismark Aborbi-Ayitey, officiated the swearing-in of the Audit Committee of the Ministry of Health (MoH) on 22nd September 2026. The ceremony was chaired by the Chief Director of the Ministry, Mr. Desmond Boateng, representing the sector minister.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Boateng emphasised that the Audit Committee serves not merely as an oversight mechanism, but as a strategic partner whose independence is essential to strengthening accountability within the MoH. He further emphasised that, given the critical role of the health sector in the lives of citizens, an independent Audit Committee is essential to advancing the Ministry’s commitment to good governance, accountability, and institutional strengthening.
He expressed his sincere appreciation to the outgoing members for their dedicated service, valuable expertise, and contributions to the Committee’s work. He also congratulated the incoming members and urged them to discharge their mandate with objectivity, integrity, and professionalism, while bringing critical issues requiring Management’s attention to the fore. He concluded by wishing the new Committee a successful and impactful tenure.
Mr. Bismark Aborbi-Ayitey administered the Oaths of Office and Secrecy to the incoming members, subsequently congratulating them on their appointment and commending the outgoing Committee for its dedicated service and contributions. He stressed the importance of adhering to the Public Financial Management (PFM) Act, as emphasised by the Chief Director, and urged the Internal Auditor to ensure the timely submission of reports to support the effective and efficient discharge of the Committee’s mandate.
Following the swearing-in ceremony, Mr. Isaac Agyin Bonney was elected Chairperson of the Audit Committee. In his acceptance remarks, he expressed his appreciation to the Ministry and fellow Committee members for the confidence reposed in him. He assured stakeholders of the Committee’s commitment to maintaining its independence while nurturing positive collaboration with Management through active participation, regular engagement, and commitment to the Committee meetings.
In his farewell remarks, the outgoing Chairman, Mr. Nathan Yankey, expressed his sincere appreciation to the Ministry for the trust and confidence reposed in him and his fellow Committee members throughout their tenure. Reflecting on the previous Committee’s service, Mr. Yankey thanked the Ministry for its support and collaboration, while acknowledging the contributions of members during their time in office. He further congratulated the newly constituted Audit Committee and wished them every success as they take on the responsibility of advancing the Committee’s mandate.
Delivering the vote of thanks, Mr. Abdul Kareem expressed appreciation to the outgoing Audit Committee for their dedicated and commendable service throughout their tenure. He encouraged the incoming Committee to approach their new responsibilities with confidence and commitment, assuring them of the Ministry’s full support. He further pledged that the necessary resources and assistance would be made available to enable the Committee to effectively discharge its mandate and contribute meaningfully to the Ministry’s objectives.
