Mr. Thomas Thompson-Aryee, Director-General of the Internal Audit Agency (IAA), inaugurated the Audit Committee of the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons (GCPS) on 5 June 2026.
Rector of GCPS, Professor Richard M. K. Adanu, in his opening remarks, provided an overview of the College’s operations. He highlighted the role of the newly constituted Audit Committee in strengthening accountability, governance, and compliance.
Mr. Thompson-Aryee congratulated members of the new Committee and encouraged them to support the Internal Audit Unit in the effective execution of its mandate and the implementation of audit recommendations. He alluded to ongoing reforms within the public sector and urged members of the Committee to acquaint themselves with these developments.
The outgoing Audit Committee members were commended for their service and formally handed over responsibilities to the newly appointed Chairperson, Madam Belinda Dede Tandoh, and her committee members. Madam Tandoh expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in the committee and pledged to promote transparency and good governance within the College.
The programme concluded with a renewed commitment to accountability and sound financial management.
