A delegation of Council members from the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Ghana, led by its President, Mr. Ebenezer Kwadwo Omari-Mireku, paid a courtesy call on the Director-General of the Internal Audit Agency (IAA), Mr. Conrad Z. Dumbah, to discuss strengthening collaboration between the two institutions.

A key focus of the meeting was the renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the IAA and IIA Ghana. The parties agreed that the renewed MOU should include clear, specific and measurable deliverables to facilitate the tracking of progress and ensure effective implementation of agreed areas of collaboration.

The meeting further proposed the establishment of a joint working group to coordinate the implementation of the MOU and other areas of collaboration. The Working Group is expected to operate with defined terms of reference, timelines and measurable deliverables.

Discussions also covered Audit Committee capacity building and the possible nomination of qualified IIA members to serve on Audit Committees. The two institutions also expressed interest in collaborating on training, quality assurance and contributing Ghanaian perspectives to relevant international internal auditing standards and frameworks.
Mr. Dumbah welcomed the continued partnership, assuring the delegation of the Agency’s commitment to strengthening the existing relationship. He also approved a request by IIA Ghana to use the upcoming IAA conference as a platform to engage stakeholders as part of the Institute’s 25th anniversary activities.
