IAA Inaugurates Audit Committee of Financial Intelligence Centre

The Deputy Director-General in charge of Finance, Administration and Support Services (FASS) of the Internal Audit Agency (IAA), Mr. Bismark Aborbi-Ayitey, virtually inaugurated the Audit Committee of the Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) on 29th September, 2026 to strengthen accountability at the Centre. The Director-General of the IAA, Mr. Conrad Z. Dumbah, was among the nominated members who were sworn in as members of the Committee.

Speaking on behalf of the FIC Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Kojo Twum Boafo, the Director of Legal at the FIC, Mr. Benjamin Ofori, congratulated the members on their nomination and urged them to discharge their responsibilities with diligence. He encouraged the Committee to ensure effective scrutiny and resource management while exercising independent judgment in the performance of its duties.

Mr. Ofori further assured the Committee of Management’s commitment to providing timely information and supporting the implementation of its recommendations. He also encouraged members to raise any challenges they encountered early to facilitate timely action.

The Board Chairman of FIC and a member of the newly constituted Committee, Mr. Mike Kofi Afflu, welcomed the inauguration and expressed the hope that it would strengthen compliance and ensure that the necessary structures were put in place.

In his address, Mr. Aborbi-Ayitey urged the Committee to contribute to the progress of the FIC and create value through its work, while expressing confidence in its ability to do so.

Following the inauguration, Mr. Conrad Z. Dumbah was elected Chairman of the Audit Committee. In his acceptance speech, he expressed appreciation for the opportunity and pledged that the Committee would work diligently in the interest of the Centre. He further promised that the Committee would provide constructive feedback and recommendations to support the Centre’s progress and strengthen accountability.

In his closing remarks, Mr. Ofori said the acceptance of the responsibility by the Chairman and members should be reflected in their work for the benefit of the FIC and the public service. He expressed satisfaction with the inauguration and wished the Committee a productive tenure in strengthening accountability at the Centre.
