On 27th June, 2025, the Deputy Director in charge of the Office of the Director-General, Mr.Hayford Dowuona-Hammond on behalf of the Ag. Director-General, Mr. Thomas A. Thompson-Aryee swore- in Mr. Samuel Gyekye-Mensah as a representative of the Internal Audit Agency on the Audit Committee of the Presbyterian College of Education (PCE) at the Conference Room of the College at Akropong-Akuapem. He replaces Mr. W.K. Offei-Mensah on the Committee as Chairperson. The other two independent members, Mrs. Philomina Dodoo (IAA Rep) and Mr. Edward Abrokwah, (ICAG Rep) are serving for another two-year term.
Rev. Dr. Nicholas Apreh Siaw, Principal of the College in his opening remarks thanked the Audit Committee for its role in the advancement of the entity. He mentioned that he was hopeful the continued support of the Committee will help in pushing the College to the highest pedestal of academic excellence.
In a speech delivered on the Ag. Director-General’s behalf, Mr. Dowuona-Hammond stated that the Audit Committee is a high-level corporate governance committee that contributes to the effectiveness of public accountability and the appropriate use of public resources. He outlined the mandatory functions of the Committee which include the preparation of an annual statement. This he said should incorporate the status of implementation prepared by Management. He added that the Committee should support the work of the Internal Auditor.
Concluding, Mr. Dowuona-Hammond said the Audit Committee is very important in the governance of PCE and as such, requires the support of Management and key stakeholders in the execution of its mandate. He encouraged the Committee to live up to expectation.
Rev. Dr. Apreh Siaw in his closing remarks said he was grateful for the smooth transition as all grey areas have been made green. He thanked the outgone Chairperson for his immense contribution and added his contribution will not go unnoticed. The Principal urged the incoming Committee to assist Management in its drive to achieving internal standards. He also implored members to assist the Internal Auditor to perform her duties effectively. He thanked the Ag. Director-General of the Agency for a successful inauguration.
