The Audit Committee of the Ghana Publishing Company Limited (GPCL) was on 21st July, 2025 inaugurated by Mr. T.A. Thompson-Aryee at the Board Room of the Company. Nana Kwasi Boatey, Acting Managing Director (MD) of GPCL chaired the event.
The Acting MD said he was delighted to have the Audit Committee inaugurated as it meant all the Committees required for the Company to operate efficiently are in place. He emphasized the importance of the Audit Committee in the words “transparency is important, and transparency is the Audit Committee”. He concluded that he was hopeful working in union with the Committee would be a helpful guide to Management in the discharge of its duties.
Delivering his speech, Mr. Thompson-Aryee stated that the Audit Committee has statutory backing as enshrined in the Public Financial Management Act 2016, (Act 921). He entreated members of the Committee to work assiduously in order to meet the deliverables of the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA) League Table for State-owned Enterprises (SoEs). The Ag. Director-General further stated that the Agency is currently receiving support from the World Bank under the Public Financial Management for Service Delivery (PFM4SD) which requires the implementation of 50% of audit recommendations.
The Ag. Director-General intimated that amendments have been made to the PFM Act and urged members of the Committee to be abreast of the changes. He informed the meeting that Internal Auditors per the Commitment Control Compliance Checklist are required to report on contracts undertaken by Covered Entities and submit a quarterly report to IAA for onward submission to the Ministry of Finance.
Mr. Boatey in his closing remarks, said he has an open-door policy and implored the Committee to work harmoniously with Management to deliver on the mandate of the Company. He pledged Management’s support to the work of the Committee.
The Committee is chaired by Dr. Gordon Kofi Sarfo-Adu, an Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana representative.
