IAA FACILITATES NATIONWIDE TRAINING ON IPSAS/IFRS/QAIP/GIAS FOR HEADS OF IAF

The Internal Audit Agency (IAA) facilitated a nationwide training programme for Heads of the Internal Audit Function on IPSAS/IFRS/QAIP/GIAS from 16th – 19th September, 2025. The sixteen (16) regions of the country were divided into five (5) zones for the rollout of the training programme.  Zone A was made up of the Western and Central Regions.

Zone B comprised the Ashanti, Western North, Bono, Bono East, and Ahafo Regions. The Eastern, Volta, and Oti Regions made up Zone C, while Zone D covered the Northern, Upper East, Upper West, Northeast, and Savannah Regions. The Greater Accra Region constituted Zone E.

The objectives of sustainability reporting include the following:

  • To provide the PSIA Function with the capacity to support the implementation of accrual basis International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS).
  • To help the PSIA Function to quality assure IPSAS and IFRS (S1 & S2) based financial statements.
  • To provide PSIA Function and Audit Committees with the capacity to review systems, structures, and policies towards meeting global financial reporting standards.

To help PSIAs to adequately support the development of appropriate control systems towards meeting the national obligation on the sustainability standards adopted by Ghana.

The expected outcome of the training programme was to improve the internal audit function in the public sector in accordance with best practices.
