The Audit Committee of the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition (MoE>) was inaugurated on 9th October, 2025, by Mr. T.A. Thompson-Aryee, Ag. Director-General of the Internal Audit Agency (IAA). The Sector Minister, Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor, chaired the event. Mr. Bismark Aborbi-Ayitey, Deputy Director-General, FASS of IAA, was in attendance.
Delivering his speech, Mr. Thompson-Aryee mentioned that Sections 86-88 of the PFM Act 2016 (Act 921) detail the composition and functions of the Audit Committee. He informed the Audit Committee that its obligations include the submission of an annual statement and pursuing Management to implement audit recommendations in statutory reports. He explained that the implementation of audit recommendations is currently part of the government’s engagement with the World Bank, with the latter’s indicator being a 51% implementation rate.
The Ag. Director-General added that Regulation 4(2c) of the Internal Audit Regulations 2011, L.I. 1994, mandates the constitution of the Review Panel to appropriately deal with audit infractions. A representative of IAA, Mr. Anthony Baidoo, was elected Chairperson of the Committee.
