On 16th October, 2025, the Deputy Director-General responsible for Finance, Administration, and Support Services (FASS) of the Internal Audit Agency (IAA), Mr. Bismark Aborbi-Ayitey, inaugurated the Audit Committee of the Ghana Gold Board (GOLDBOD).
Mr. George Baah-Danquah (PhD), Director of Finance at the GOLDBOD, in his opening remarks delivered on behalf of the Chief Executive, Mr. Sammy Gyamfi Esq. mentioned that the relevance of the Audit Committee is entrenched in the PFM Act, 2016 (Act 921). He continued that with the diverse experience of the members of the Committee, GOLDBOD would succeed in the execution of its mandate.
Mr. Thomas A. Thompson-Aryee, the Ag. Director-General of the IAA, was elected Chairman of the Committee. He assured the meeting of the Committee, adding value and working with Management to achieve the objectives of the institution.
Mr. Aborbi-Ayitey outlined the functions of the Committee as prescribed by Section 88 of the PFM Act. He impressed upon members of the Audit Committee to ensure that the operations of GOLDBOD are in conformity with statutory laws. He further urged the Committee to ensure its activities are in line with the tenets of good governance and work to reduce infractions.
The Deputy Director-General, in conclusion, hinted at amendments to the PFM Act and PPA Act to incorporate the Oaths of Office and Secrecy and Commitment Authorization respectively.
