The Audit Committee of the Ghana Scholarship Authority (GSA) was inaugurated by Mr. Thomas Thompson-Aryee, the Director-General of Internal Audit Agency on 4 June 2026. Prior to the inauguration, the Director-General of the Internal Audit Agency, Mr. Thompson-Aryee explained that the previous Audit Committee had been dissolved following the change in institutional framework from a Secretariat to an Authority, making it necessary to reconstitute the Committee.
In his remarks, Mr. Alex Kwaku Asafo-Agyei, Director-General of the Ghana Scholarship Authority, congratulated the newly appointed Audit Committee members. He expressed confidence that the Committee would provide effective oversight and support the Authority in reducing audit infractions and achieving its mandate.
Following the inauguration, the Committee elected Mr. Henry Kwame Sain Chairperson. In his acceptance remarks, he thanked his colleagues and management for the confidence reposed in him and appealed for management’s support to enable the Committee effectively to discharge its responsibilities.
In his remarks, the Director-General of the Internal Audit Agency urged the Committee to ensure the implementation of audit recommendations, submit Annual Audit Committee and Commitment Compliance Checklist (CCC) reports on time, and hold the mandatory quarterly meetings. He further encouraged members to effectively perform their advisory and oversight functions.
The Director-General of the Ghana Scholarship Authority congratulated the new Committee and assured management’s support in promoting good governance, accountability, and transparency within the Authority.
