Building Bridges: IAA Deepens Collaboration with GTEC to Promote Accountability

A delegation from the Internal Audit Agency (IAA), led by its Acting Director-General, Mr. Conrad Z. Dumbah, paid a courtesy visit to the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) on 7th October 2026. The Director-General of GTEC, Prof. Ahmed Jinapor Abdulai, together with other members of the Management team, was in attendance.

The high-level engagement with the Commission reiterated the Agency commitment to strengthening institutional collaboration and promoting accountability.

The visit also provided an opportunity for the Agency to explore avenues for closer cooperation with the Commission as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen transparency, and good governance. Discussions focused on identifying areas of mutual interest and deepening collaboration to support the effective delivery of the mandates of both institutions.

Discussions centred on key areas of collaboration between the Agency and GTEC, including:

  • GTEC’s support for training programmes organised by the Agency,
  • GTEC’s support for the Internal Audit Agency Review Panel engagements,
  • The timely submission of statutory reports by institutions regulated by the Commission.
  • Strengthening the validation of public expenditure by Internal Audit Units within GTEC-regulated institutions.

In his concluding remarks, Prof. Jinapor Abdulai noted that, given the respective mandates of the two institutions, their roles are complementary and provide a strong basis for collaboration in furthering their shared objectives.
