The Internal Audit Agency (IAA), represented by the Deputy Director-General responsible for Finance, Administration and Support Services (FASS), Mr. Bismark Aborbi-Ayitey, swore in the Audit Committee of the Energy Commission on 14th October 2026. The ceremony was chaired by the Acting Executive Secretary, Madam Adwoa Serwaa Bonzie, and attended by members of the Commission’s Management Team.

Delivering her opening remarks, Madam Bonzie commended the IAA for its continued efforts in promoting good governance across public sector institutions. She noted that the establishment of Audit Committees is a statutory requirement under the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921). She further highlighted the Committee’s key responsibilities, including ensuring the implementation of audit recommendations contained in statutory reports and providing advisory support on financial management and risk management practices.

She assured the Committee of Management’s commitment to providing the necessary support to enable the Internal Audit Unit to operate independently and effectively, thereby strengthening the Commission’s internal control systems. She concluded by emphasising that Management would view audit findings not as fault-finding exercises, but as opportunities to add value and improve institutional performance.
Mr. Dumbah, the Acting Director-General of IAA, was elected Chairman of the Committee. In his acceptance speech, he assured members of the Committee’s commitment to working diligently to serve as a trusted assurance partner to Management, promote good governance and accountability, and strengthen the Commission’s internal control systems.

In his remarks, Mr. Aborbi-Ayitey highlighted that Section 86 of the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921), outlines the mandatory and advisory functions of the Audit Committee. He urged the Committee to ensure the timely submission of statutory reports and encouraged Management to collaborate effectively with Committee members to facilitate the successful execution of their mandate.

He further recommended that an orientation on the operations of the Commission be organised for members to enhance their understanding of the institution and equip them to discharge their responsibilities effectively.
