The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, swore in members of the Parliamentary Service Audit Committee at its inauguration on 27th October 2026.
In his remarks, the Acting Deputy Director-General (FASS) of the Internal Audit Agency (IAA), Mr. Bismark Aborbi-Ayitey, highlighted the Committee’s responsibility to promote accountability, effective oversight and good governance.
Rt. Hon. Bagbin observed that the inauguration of the Audit Committee underlined the Parliament of Ghana’s commitment to prudent financial management, transparency and accountability. He further emphasised that the Committee plays a pivotal role in ensuring effective scrutiny of public resources, promoting financial discipline and upholding the principles of responsible financial stewardship.
The Speaker commended the outgoing Committee for ensuring the timely submission of internal audit reports and urged the new members to maintain and improve upon that record. He also stressed the need to address outstanding audit findings and recommendations and assured the Committee of Management’s support.
The new Committee is expected to support effective internal audit oversight and strengthen accountability within the Parliamentary Service.
