A Principal Manager of the Internal Audit Agency (IAA), Mr. Frank Kwame Amedume, inaugurated the Audit Committee of the National Population Council (NPC) on 13th October 2026 on behalf of the Acting Director-General, Mr. Conrad Z. Dumbah. The ceremony was chaired by the Council’s Chairperson, Dr. Angela El-Adas, and attended by the Acting Executive Director, Mrs. Angelina Osei Kodua-Nyanor.

Delivering the Acting Director-General’s remarks, Mr. Amedume stressed that the Audit Committee is an independent statutory body and should not be treated as a sub-committee of the Board. He urged members to fulfil their mandatory and advisory responsibilities, follow up on the implementation of audit recommendations, and ensure timely submission of statutory reports, including Commitment Control Compliance reports. He also highlighted the need to comply with the Public Financial Management Act and observe the mandatory minimum number of annual meetings, adding that the IAA could provide capacity-building support when needed.

Mr. Michael Odonkor Sackey was elected Chairman of the Audit Committee. In his acceptance remarks, he expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in him, noting that service on the Committee was not about monetary gain but about minimising financial infractions, ensuring statutory compliance and contributing to the Council’s development. He called for the Council’s continued support to enable the Committee to execute its mandate effectively.
In her closing remarks, Mrs. Kodua-Nyanor thanked the Ag. Director-General and his representative, reaffirming the Council’s commitment to providing the Committee with the necessary support to carry out its responsibilities.
