The President, Council and Management of the Ghana Institute of Procurement and Supply (GIPS) on 23rd March, 2023 paid a courtesy call on the Agency. The purpose of the visit was to reach out to stakeholders who make valuable contributions to the procurement and supply chain management practice in Ghana.
The President of GIPS, Mr. Simon Annan, outlined the strategic agenda of GIPS and mentioned that collaboration with institutions such as the Agency in areas of strategy was necessary. He noted that the Internal Audit Agency was identified because of the quality assurance and advisory roles it plays in public financial management.
He indicated the important role a regulated procurement and supply chain management practice will play in promoting economic development in Ghana. Other areas considered relevant for collaboration between the GIPS and the Agency were: Capacity Building of members of GIPS and IAUs, joint bidding of projects for Development Partner funding and other areas of strategic importance for the two institutions.
He shared GIPS Draft Procurement Practicing Bill (2023) with the Agency for input and finalization.
The Director-General of the Agency encouraged GIPS to consider partnering with the Agency to build the capacities of internal Auditors. He tasked the team to make good use of its members and develop a collaboration with other professional bodies.
He invited the institution to join the Agency as it celebrates its Internal Audit Awareness Week from March 27,2023 to April 2,2023.
The President of GIPS in turn invited the Director-General to the institution’s upcoming induction of new Members and Fellows.
