The Ag. Director-General of the Internal Audit Agency, Mr. Thomas A. Thompson-Aryee, inaugurated the Audit Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICAG), on 24th September, 2025. The Chief Executive Officer of the Institute, Mr. P. Kwasi Agyemang (FCA), chaired the event.
Mr. Agyemang, in his opening remarks, mentioned that the need for a third eye to assist Management to chart its path requires an independent body such as the Audit Committee.
Delivering his speech, the Ag. Director-General stated that public financial reforms are ongoing, and the Government is partnering with the Agency to ensure implementation of audit recommendations. He hinted at the support the Agency is receiving from the World Bank to ensure the implementation of at least fifty percent (50%) of audit recommendations in internal audit reports. Mr. Thompson-Aryee outlined the training programmes the Agency is rolling out to support the work of Internal Auditors and Audit Committees. Mr. Seth Anaglate, an Internal Audit Agency representative, was elected as the Chairperson.
