COUNCIL MEMBERS OF IIA PAY A VISIT TO IAA

On 21st October, 2025, Council members of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) paid a working visit to Management of the Internal Audit Agency (IAA) to scout for areas of collaboration.

The Ag. Director-General of the IAA, Mr. Thomas Thompson-Aryee stressed the need to strengthen collaboration between the two institutions to promote the practice of internal auditing for the mutual benefit of both. He mentioned that the Agency would be undertaking the following activities.

  • Development of a Governance Audit Manual. The Agency would liaise with the IIA to roll out training on the Manual.
  • Review and roll out of the Integrated Internal Controls Framework Manual. The IIA would be involved in its revision.
  • Tailoring of the Quality Assurance Improvement Programme (QAIP) Manual to internal auditing in Ghana.

The President of the IIA, Mr. Omane-Mireku congratulated the Ag. Director-General of the IAA on his appointment and the Agency for championing the adoption of the Global Internal Audit Standards (GIAS). He informed the meeting that the purpose of the visit was to partner with the IAA in the following areas:

  • Inclusion of measurable outcomes in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions.
  • Appointment of members of the IIA unto Audit Committees.
  • Liaising with the IAA to facilitate periodic training programmes for members of Audit Committees.
  • Creation of public awareness on the Internal Audit Function and provision of advocacy.
  • Provision of refresher training programmes on the GIAS.
