Mr. Samuel Gyekye-Mensah, Deputy Director responsible for On-site Support Services, on behalf of the Ag. Director-General of the Internal Audit Agency (IAA), Mr. Thomas A. Thompson-Aryee, inaugurated the Audit Committee of the Minerals Development Fund (MDF) on 29th October 2025.
The Administrator of the Fund, Hon. Dr. Hanna Louisa Bisiw-Kotei, in her remarks, stated that for MDF to execute its mandate of bettering the lot of communities affected by illegal mining and the country at large, there is the need for checks and balances. She continued that the Audit Committee’s role is crucial in this direction.
Delivering the speech on behalf of the Ag. Director-General of the IAA, Mr. Gyekye-Mensah referred to amendments made to the PFM Act 2016 (Act 921) to include the Oaths of Office and Secrecy, which he urged members to take seriously as they have sanctions attached. He further outlined the mandatory and advisory roles of the Committee.
Mr. Gyekye-Mensah hinted at the Commitment Compliance Control Review Report that Internal Auditors are required to submit on a quarterly basis and implored the Committee to ensure its adherence.
