The Internal Audit Agency (IAA), in line with its mandate to strengthen the capacity of Internal Audit staff across Covered Entities, conducted a two-day on-site training programme on Risk-Based Internal Auditing (RBIA) for the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) and the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) from 10th – 11th and 12th – 13th November 2025, respectively. The training programme is sponsored by the European Union (EU).
This initiative forms part of the Agency’s continuous efforts to support institutions in building capacity and enhancing the effectiveness of internal audit functions. The primary objective of the training was to equip Internal Audit staff with the requisite skills and competencies to effectively conduct risk-based internal audit engagements covering both financial and operational activities.
Participants were introduced to the key principles and practices of RBIA and engaged in hands-on sessions designed to demonstrate the practical application of RBIA methodologies within their organizational context. The training also deepened participants’ understanding of internal control systems, risk management processes, and the importance of aligning internal audit activities with institutional objectives.
