On behalf of the Ag. Director-General of the Internal Audit Agency (IAA), Mr. Hayford D. Hammond, Deputy Director, Office of the Director-General, inaugurated 11 Audit Committees of the Ghana Health Service (GHS) in the Volta Region. The event marked a significant effort toward strengthening governance, enhancing internal controls, and promoting accountability across health institutions within the region.
In his speech, Mr. Hammond assured the newly inaugurated Audit Committees of the unwavering support of the IAA in carrying out their oversight responsibilities. He emphasized that the Agency remains committed to providing technical guidance, capacity-building, and continuous engagement to enable the committees to function effectively. He also advised members to discharge their duties with professionalism, independence, and integrity, stressing the importance of collaboration with management while maintaining strong ethical standards.
The ceremony began with opening remarks from the Regional Director of Health Services, who reiterated the essential role of audit committees in promoting transparency, ensuring prudent financial management, and supporting effective service delivery. The event brought together key stakeholders dedicated to strengthening oversight practices within the health sector.
