On 2nd December 2025, Mr. T.A. Thompson-Aryee, Ag. Director-General of the Internal Audit Agency (IAA), inaugurated the Audit Committee of the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs (MLGCRA).
The Minister, Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim, chaired the inauguration. The Chief Director, Alhaji Amin Abdul-Rahaman, was in attendance. Hon. Ibrahim, in his remarks, stated that the inauguration marked an important milestone in strengthening governance. He emphasized that the event is an indication of the Ministry’s shared responsibility to safeguard national resources. The Minister concluded that members of the Audit Committee are partners in shaping the future of MLGCRA.
In his speech, Mr. Thompson-Aryee encouraged the Committee to weave good governance into the very fabric of the Ministry. He emphasized that the present administration places great importance on the implementation of audit recommendations. Consequently, the World Bank, under its PFM for Service Delivery Program, is partnering with the Internal Audit Agency and other public institutions to achieve a minimum implementation rate of 51%.
