On 22nd January 2026, the Internal Audit Agency (IAA) officially inaugurated the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (GMTF) Audit Committee, marking an important step in strengthening governance and accountability over public resources. The ceremony highlighted the Committee’s commitment to transparency and sound financial management.
Mr. Richard Kobina Sakyi Hagan was elected as Chairperson, providing clear leadership for the Committee’s oversight mandate. All members also took an oath of office to uphold the Constitution and signed conflict of interest declarations, ensuring integrity and impartiality in carrying out their duties.
The Committee comprises five core members representing key institutions, with clearly defined roles for the Chairperson and Secretary to facilitate effective operations. Senior leadership, such as the Finance Director, is encouraged to attend meetings to provide authoritative guidance and strengthen decision-making.
With structured meeting protocols and a detailed work plan, the Committee is positioned to safeguard public resources, enhance accountability, and support excellence in financial management, reinforcing public trust in the Ghana Medical Trust Fund.
