IAA Inaugurates GTEC Audit Committee to Strengthen Oversight

On 22nd January 2026, the Internal Audit Agency (IAA) officially inaugurated the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) Audit Committee, marking an important milestone in strengthening governance, accountability, and financial oversight in the tertiary education sector. The inauguration ceremony highlighted IAA’s commitment to promoting transparency and enhancing public trust in the management of educational resources.

All Committee members took an oath of office pledging to uphold the Constitution and signed conflict of interest declarations, ensuring integrity, confidentiality, and impartiality in their oversight roles. These measures safeguard sensitive financial and operational information, ensuring the Committee deliberations remain independent and objective.

The Committee comprises five members representing key professional and institutional bodies, with clearly defined roles and responsibilities to guide its work. Structured meeting protocols, a detailed work plan, and regular engagement with senior leadership will support the Committee in safeguarding public resources, strengthening internal controls, and enhancing accountability within GTEC.
