Enhancing Accountability: New Audit Committee Takes Office at the Administrator-General

On 28th January 2026, the Internal Audit Agency (IAA) inaugurated the Audit Committee of the Office of the Administrator-General as part of efforts to strengthen accountability and transparency in public asset management. The inauguration ceremony was attended by the management of the Office of the Administrator-General, officials of the IAA, and other stakeholders.

In her address, the Administrator-General, Mrs. Joyce Wereko Ampim-Opoku, welcomed participants and reaffirmed the vision and mission of the Office. She emphasized the institution’s commitment to effective public asset management and the need for robust governance structures to support service delivery. Mrs. Ampim-Opoku highlighted the role of the Audit Committee in providing oversight, supporting financial management, ensuring professional integrity, and promoting compliance with statutory requirements. She also congratulated members on their appointment.

The Audit Committee members were sworn into office by Mr. Hammond D. Hayford, on behalf of the Ag. Director-General of the Internal Audit Agency. He administered the oath of office to the members, formally inaugurating them to assume their responsibilities in accordance with the Public Financial Management framework and relevant regulations.

Subsequently, the Committee elected Dr. Daniel Aku-Menye as Chairperson. In his acceptance remarks, Dr. Aku-Menye expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in him and assured management of the Committee’s commitment to professionalism and teamwork. Mr. Hayford, in further remarks, underscored the importance of the timely submission of statutory reports and encouraged close collaboration between the Audit Committee and the internal auditor to strengthen accountability and internal control systems.
