The Internal Audit Agency (IAA) on January 29, 2026, inaugurated the Audit Committee of the Ministry of Transport as part of efforts to strengthen governance, accountability, and financial oversight within the Ministry.
The inauguration ceremony was presided over by the Ag. Director-General of the Internal Audit Agency, who formally swore in the members of the Audit Committee, thereby ushering them into office. In his address, the Ag. Director-General underscored the critical role of Audit Committees under the Public Financial Management (PFM) Act, emphasizing their responsibility to provide independent oversight, ensure effective risk management, and promote compliance with financial regulations.
He further urged the Committee to work closely with Management and the Internal Audit Function to ensure timely review of audit reports, effective implementation of audit recommendations, and adherence to statutory reporting obligations.
Management of the Ministry of Transport expressed its appreciation to the IAA and reaffirmed its commitment to fully supporting the Audit Committee in the discharge of its mandate, in line with the Ministry’s commitment to transparency and sound public financial management.
