Minerals Commission’s Audit Committee Inaugurated

The Director-General of the Internal Audit Agency (IAA), Mr. Thomas Thompson-Aryee, swore in the Audit Committee of the Minerals Commission on 11 June 2026. Present at the ceremony were the Board Chairman of the Commission, Amb. William Ntow Boahene, Esq., and the Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Maxwell Klu, who represented the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Isaac Andrews Tandoh.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Klu stated that Section 86 of the Public Financial Management (PFM) Act establishes the Audit Committee as an independent oversight body that supports Management in ensuring the effectiveness of internal control systems. He urged the Committee to promote accountability in the management of resources entrusted to the Commission. He commended the outgoing Committee for its contributions to the achievements of the Commission and expressed confidence that the expertise of the incoming members would significantly support the realization of the Commission’s mandate.

In his address, Mr. Thompson-Aryee outlined the statutory responsibilities of the Audit Committee, placing particular emphasis on its role in ensuring that Management implements audit recommendations. He also highlighted the World Bank’s requirement for public sector institutions to achieve at least a 51% implementation rate of audit recommendations.
