Mr. Thomas Thompson-Aryee, Acting Director-General of the Internal Audit Agency, inaugurated the Audit Committee of the Independent Tax Appeals Board (ITAB) On 15th May,2026.
In his remarks, Mohammed Kofi Twumasi Nayyar noted that the inauguration fulfills the requirements of the Public Financial Management Act, 2016, which mandates covered entities such as ITAB to establish Audit Committees to strengthen accountability and sound financial governance.
Delivering his address, Thomas Thompson-Aryee stated that the Committee is expected to meet quarterly to review both internal and external audit reports.
He further noted that the Committee is also mandated to examine the Commitment Control Compliance Review Reports (CCCRR), which are to be prepared quarterly by the Internal Audit Unit.
Thomas Thompson-Aryee also highlighted the introduction of the Commitment Authorization (CA) by the Minister for Finance, which requires institutions to obtain approval for procurement activities that exceed the approval thresholds of Heads of institutions and the Entity Tender Committee (ETC).
He expressed confidence that the newly inaugurated Committee would play a significant role in enhancing governance and adding value to ITAB.
