AfDB PAYS A VISIT TO IAA

A team from the African Development Bank (AfDB) paid a visit to the Agency on 9th December, 2022. The purpose of the visit was to deepen the relationship between the two institutions and find areas where the Agency could be supported. The Agency has previously benefitted from the support of the AfDB.

The Director-General outlined areas the Agency requires support as follows:

  1. Permanent office building for the Agency.
  2. Publication of the Revised Audit Committee Guidelines and support for its sensitization. This would also entail supporting the Agency to fund Audit Committees so public institutions do not use funding as an excuse not to hold meetings.
  3. Support the Agency to work with Parliament to ensure recommendations in audit reports are acted on.
  4. The decentralization of the Review Panel system by funding regional Review Panel meetings.
  5. Development of the 2023-2027 Strategic Plan of the Agency.
  6. Mainstreaming of Enterprise Risk Management in the operations of public sector institutions. The Agency needs support to revise the outmoded ERM Tool and its printing since it is in soft copy.
  7. Support the Agency to get the GIFMIS to be opened up to Internal Auditors who currently have Read Only Access. This does not allow them to stop irregularities.
  8. Revision and publication of the Audit Performance Audit Manual to enable the mainstreaming of performance auditing in public sector institutions.
  9. End-end Audit Management Information System (AIMIS) to enable the Agency provide feedback to public institutions on real time.
  10. Development of a Centre of Excellence for Internal Auditing.
